Vital Field and Information Medicine

Vital field and information medicine are of interest to many people who are looking for complementary perspectives on health. Herbert Eder explains the terms used here, the device procedures described, and the questions that arise from them. It is crucial to clearly distinguish between technical processes, theoretical interpretations, and medically verified statements.

What Is Meant by "Vital Field"?

The manufacturer VITATEC describes “Vitalfeld” as a term it coined and classifies its devices under this concept. For Global Diagnostics, it outlines a procedure involving electrodes, electrical impulses, and software-based analysis. This is, first and foremost, a manufacturer’s description. It explains how the product is presented but does not confirm that the categories identified reliably detect medical conditions. VITATEC itself points out on its product page that its methods have not been scientifically validated in the context of university medicine.

Distinguish Between Measurement and Interpretation

For every measurement, we must ask: What physical quantity is being measured, under what conditions, and with what degree of uncertainty? This is followed by a second question: How does the software use this data to generate its visualization? A colored 3D graphic or a term like “load” only becomes understandable through a clear definition. For diagnostic conclusions, additional tests are needed to compare the results with a suitable medical reference method.

Biological electricity is a topic in its own right

Electrical processes in the body can be studied using methods developed specifically for that purpose. An ECG, for example, records voltage fluctuations associated with the heart’s electrical activity. This established correlation does not serve as evidence for all other methods that also use electrodes or electromagnetic principles. Each method must be evaluated based on its own measurement parameters and research questions.

These articles promote an objective discussion of vital field systems and information medicine. They explain manufacturers’ terminology and highlight unanswered questions. A device evaluation should neither be used on its own to diagnose a disease nor to rule out the need for a medical evaluation. Anyone with specific symptoms requires an appropriate diagnostic evaluation; a supplementary interest in information medicine does not change this.
